Before you choose: what the software must do
HMRC says your software (or a combination of products) needs to:
support all your income sources that are in MTD, such as self-employment and property
send your quarterly updates and your end-of-year tax return
let you report your other income, like savings interest, to finish the return
work with your accounting period (standard tax year or calendar quarters)
Source: Choose the right software, GOV.UK. Only products that have been through HMRC's recognition process can send MTD updates, and HMRC doesn't recommend any of them. Check any product in HMRC's software finder before you sign up.
